Ken Huey (00:15)
Today's guest is Breanne Wolfgram-Hardy, Director of Community and Business Development at Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital in Orem, Utah... Breanne, thanks very much for being with us.

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (00:50)
Thank you for having me. I appreciate it.

Ken Huey (00:53)
So I'd like to start with kind of your why. You're in behavioral health care and community outreach. Why? What motivates you and brings you there?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (01:06)
Ruthfully, starting out, I never thought at 21 years old, this would be the field I was going to have my career in... It is a calling.

Ken Huey (01:39)
All right, so you join Aspen Grove. What has that done to shape your perspective about mental health care in Utah?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (01:46)
...Acute care has really helped me see the barriers and how do we break these down?

Ken Huey (02:30)
You started in direct care. How has that shaped your leadership style now in outreach?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (02:53)
...There's nothing above me, there's nothing below me. I can get in and work in the system to work on the system.

Ken Huey (03:49)
What's been one of the most meaningful moments connecting providers and patients or clients?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (03:55)
...Since then, fast forward, I've not just been able to help his son three different times... We've really helped their family grow closer together.

Ken Huey (05:20)
Let's talk a little bit about mentorship. What role has mentorship played in your professional development and what role has it played as you've mentored others?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (05:32)
...The more I lean in, it's helped open up doors and expand my knowledge.

Ken Huey (06:37)
If you would, tell me a story. Just any experience, a story of being mentored.

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (06:45)
...I had a mentor who saw more in me than I could see in myself, and that changed everything.

Ken Huey (07:29)
So you're in direct care, and at some point there's this shift. What did that look like going from that role into outreach?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (07:39)
...I took a leap into a business development coordinator role, even as a single mom. It was my passion that opened the door.

Ken Huey (09:41)
So in the behavioral healthcare world, being direct care is very different from outreach. What drives your passion there?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (09:59)
...We are connecting and educating our community. We must unite to break down silos so families can actually navigate care.

Ken Huey (11:40)
If you could wave a magic wand and fix one problem in mental health care, what would that be?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (11:47)
...Access to care. Truly helping patients navigate to the right specialty care.

Ken Huey (12:30)
You're in front of young professionals entering mental health care. What's your advice to them?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (12:38)
...Lean into all levels of care. It takes a community. It's our ethical obligation.

Ken Huey (13:42)
So the podcast is called The Voice of Hope. What gives you hope in this field?

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (13:50)
...What drives my passion is breaking the stigma and walking with families to the right level of care. That gives me hope.

Ken Huey (16:45)
Brianne, you've been a fixture in the mental health care world... Thank you for spending time sharing your journey.

Brianne Wolfgramm-Hardy (16:58)
Well, thank you. That's very kind. Thank you for having me.
